graphing: Describe in words the graph of each of these....

Part I. Describe in words the graph of each of these curves below. Include in your description the shape, along with other possible relevant information such as length, width, and center points.

a. (X+2)2 + (Y-4)2 = 36

Iam haveing trouble getting started on this problem. All i have worked out is (X+2)^2+(Y-4)^2=6^2 I dont know if that is right i know i have to get the x and the Y then pin point them on the graph. Since these are to the second power iam getting confused.

Ok I think i might have got it i tried another problem can someone please tell me if it is right?

Y=3X^2
X=1
Y=3(1)^2
Y=3 *1=3
Y=3

So when i go to graph i would look to graph X=1 and y=3 which would would give me the shape of a parabella right?

To learn how to classify a conic from its equation, try here.

Then, once you've correctly classified this conic, follow the link to the lesson on that conic, to learn how to "describe" the shape which corresponds to the listed equation.
