note the function is a straight line hence for all functions the x intercept is found when y is 0 so setting (x-3)/5 =0 will give x=3 and the y intercept will be found when x=0 thus y=(0-3)/5 .Gives y=-3/5.

In particular, note from the previous reply that each intercept is found by plugging zero in for the other variable. :wink:
