Hi, I understand the basic concept of a square root function. I just don't quite get how to identify them.
To be more specific,
1) is y=sqrroot of x a square root function? I'm assuming yes.
2) What about y=x^2? is this a square root function? I understand it is the inverse of y=sqrroot of x. But, would it also be considered a square root function?
In other words, is this a correct definition of square root functions?:
"When the output values (y), in each ordered pair of a relation, are the SQUARE of the input values (x). OR When the output values (y), in each ordered pair of a relation, are the SQUARE ROOT of the input values (x).
Do both statements describe a square root function in the definition?
