How do you factor this expression?
2x^2 + 8
I get this far 2(x^2+4)
is this as far as it goes or does the (x^2+4) factor further?

x^2+4 is a sum of squares not a difference of squares, so it doesn't factor. Taking the 2 out is all you can do.
