Simple ways to solve multi-step equations?

Examples of what I'm talking about.

4a = -b
a - b = 5

4n = 2m - 4
n = 2 - m

3y = -5x + 15
-y = -3x + 9

May someone help instruct me on a quick step-by-step method I could apply in the future?
