Prove that a triangle is rectangular when:( x + y) / 17 = (y + z) / 18 = (z + x) / 25, (with x, y and z as the sides of the triangle).

How does your book define "rectangular" for triangles? :confused:

Find the values for x,y and z

I get $x=\frac{12}{13}\cdot c,\,\,\,\, y=\frac{5}{13}\cdot c,\,\,\,\, z=c$ for any constant $c$

then show that $x^2+y^2=z^2$

OK!
Thats the way to do it. I get the same results setting z = 1 and solve for the two unknows x and y (in function of z)
Never would have thought of this by myself.
