Help with linear equation

I am having a hard time solving linear equations such as this one:

-1/6(x-18)+1/2(x+2)=x+28

At what stage are you having difficulty? You multiplied through by the common denominator to clear the fractions, leaving you with -(x - 18) + 3(x + 2) = 6x + 168, and... then what?
