If you're not sure how to
translate the word problem into algebra, then start plugging in numbers, and see what patterns you can find.
The exercise does not say that she did not finish the race, so presumably she did finish. How much then was she paid by any one given sponsor for the race? (Hint: Multiply.) Then:
- Code: Select all
sponsors | paid | total paid
=========+======+===========
1 | 10 | 10*1 = 10
2 | 10 | 10*2 = 20
3 | 10 | 10*3 = 30
4 | 10 | 10*4 = 40
5 | 10 |
6 |
...
Where does this lead you?
