I need help with setting up the equation for this word problem: Leila ran in a 5-kilometer race to raise money for the expansion of her city's animal shelter. Each sponsor donated $2.00 for each kilometer that she ran. She raised $90.00. How many sponsors did she have?

If you're not sure how to

The exercise does not say that she did not finish the race, so presumably she did finish. How much then was she paid by any one given sponsor for the race? (Hint: Multiply.) Then:

Code: Select all

`sponsors | paid | total paid`

=========+======+===========

1 | 10 | 10*1 = 10

2 | 10 | 10*2 = 20

3 | 10 | 10*3 = 30

4 | 10 | 10*4 = 40

5 | 10 |

6 |

...

Where does this lead you?
