5.1) We need to find the slope. . Plug the y-coordinates and the x-coordinates into the formula.

5.2) Set up the equation, . Plug in the answer from 5.1 for . Then choose either point. If you choose (4, -2), then plug in 4 for and -2 for . Otherwise choose (3,8); plug in 3 for and 8 for . Either point will yield the same result, next step.

5.3) Solve equation 5.2 for .

5.4) Set up the equation again. Plug in the answer from 5.1 for . Plug in the answer from 5.3 from 5.1 for . Leave the and alone!
