Can someone help me solve the following problem?

By selling a watch for $1,275, a jeweler lost 15%. At what price should he sell the watch to make a profit of 10%?

By selling a watch for $1,275, a jeweler lost 15%. At what price should he sell the watch to make a profit of 10%?

You can learn the general process in this lesson. Then use the method they show there: Since he "lost" 15%, then he got 85%, so 1275 is 0.85 of (whatever variable you chose to stand for "the whole amount"). Solve for this variable. Then get ten percent of that, and add it in to get the 110% amount which is 10% profit.
