Name the property that justifies each statement

Postby jhanagriff » Fri Jan 21, 2011 3:10 am

Name the property that justifies each statement. All variables represent real numbers

(-2.6) + 7 = 7 + (-2.6)

I'm taking a intermediate algebra class online for the second time. first time I didn't do so well. :( I didn't have algebra in HS and need help.

I assume this question is part of a larger assignment because your question doesn't have variables. Variables would be letters like x, y etc.

The properties of numbers are explained here.

The answer is Commutative Property. It means you can add any two real numbers and the order in which we add the numbers does not affect the sum.
