You can either add the base-4 numbers, remembering the "carry" any time you have a value of "4" or more (just as you "carry" in regular decimal arithmetic when you have a value of "10" or more), or else you can convert the numbers to decimal form (that is, to regular base-10 numbers), do the addition, and then convert back.

so 321 base 4 is 1*1+4*2+16*3=1+8+48=57 and 123 base 4 is 3*1+2*4+1*16=3+8+16=27 then 57+27=84 this is 64+16+4=1*64+1*16+1*4+0*1=1110 base 4 is that rite?
