i need help with (-8)(-5)+(7)2 and (-1/5)3 -0.5

i just dont get any of these problems that r in the book
like this one

(-8)(-5)+(7)2

and this one two

(-1/5)3 -0.5

for the 1st one is the 2 a power like 7² or is it times like 7*2?
for the 2nd onw is the 3 a power?
