help with word problems

hi my name is matt and i want to join the military but first i need to take the asvab. i did not finish high school so my math skills are out of date. (i have my GED) anyway i have the most difficulty with word problems and what processes to use and what order to put them in? any help would be great.

To learn general processes for setting up and solving word problems, try the following:

Once you've studied the lesson, follow the links at the end of the lesson, which lead to explanations of common sorts of word problems (such as "uniform rate" and "coin" problems). This should give you a good start!

Note: There are books which cover specifically just algebra word problems, such as this book. Your local library or big-box book retailer should have this or similar resources available. Check 'em out!
