## Newton's method

Limits, differentiation, related rates, integration, trig integrals, etc.

### Newton's method

Use Newton's method with the initial approximation x1 = 1 to find x2, the second approximation to a root of the equation 3x2 - 6 = 0.

What are the steps to solving this problem? I have no idea where to get started (wish I did). I'd really appreciate some help.

It is to be regretted that your class has not explained this topic prior to requiring that you solve exercises with it. To learn the topic, please consider online resources such as this one.

Note: I suspect that the lesson at the link is using $x_0$ where your assessment is using $x_1$. In either notational format, the point is that one is given (or determines) an initial value; all following values are derived therefrom, using the formula provided.
