Sin Cos Tan: A kit is flying 98 ft off the ground, and....

Postby SuperCharged » Wed Nov 30, 2011 5:00 am

I am given a side with a length of 98, and an angle of 41 degrees, and i need to find the missing side. I also have this: tan x = c/b, sin x = c/a, cos x = b/a. The side that is 98 is side c, and i need to find a.

Here's an image of it:

The text says "A kit is flying 98 ft off the ground, and its line is pulled taut. The angle of elevation of the kite is 41*. Find the length of the line. Round your answer to the nearest tenth."

they give you sinx=c/a x=41 a=98
plug in & solve sin41=98/a
