this is the problem i have and my teacher said we are supposed to use the segment addition postulate...

(2x+10)+(x-4)=21

do i do like terms first or what??? help PLEASE! :confused:

What does that postulate say? (Unfortunately, geometry terms, after thousands of years, do not yet seem to have been standardized, so I don't want to assume or guess at anything. Please let me know what your book says.)

That is usually the first step. So rearrange to get 2x + x + 10 - 4 = 21, simplify, and proceed from there. :wink:
