...These texts are challenging, often employing words and phrases that are unfamiliar to the students, but still very important. In assigning the documents, I highlight such words and phrases, and require students to list the meaning of each, using both dictionary definition and context. This approach has been very effective in developing in students a scholarly habit of learning new words. (read more)
