We make sure that they know what is expected for each assignment, and if they are unsure I encourage them to get clarification from their teacher. I stress the importance of making a study sheet and following a schedule to make sure they allow enough time to prepare for each test.

Students might misunderstand what the word problem is asking. They might misread test instructions or be unable to discern the main idea of the short or long passages in the critical reading section.
