Ralph K. ...Phonics teaches children how to decode words by memorizing the sounds of roughly 40 (16 vowel and 24 consonant). This is a much simpler task than memorizing thousands or tens of thousands of words. Let me give your kids the opportunity to read that the system is denying them. Phonics can burst the shackles that whole language has burdened them with.
