Matthew K. ...Calculus is tough. There's a reason many students aren't required to take it unnecessarily or opt not to if possible. Much of it is less "here are the steps" like algebra tends to be, and more "analyze and try a few possible steps".

For instance, it can be used for figuring unknown distances to inaccessible places. Having taught physics for years, trigonometry has been a part of many of the activities.
