I worked in a community college for a year teaching Algebra I, II, and Geometry to students who didn't do too well in high school or needed a refresher course.

I believe that an integral part of learning and retaining the subject matter is to be able to teach it. If one can teach a subject matter, that is the true test of whether or not that individual understands it.

Charlie M. ...Becoming comfortable with the vocabulary as well as the idiosyncrasies of the passages are critical skills needed to excel on this portion of the test. I have definitely had success in helping students to acquire these skills. The SAT writing test is unusual because it tests students rhetorical skills considerably more than the ACT writing (English) test does.
