Staci H. ...Some schools teach it immediately after Algebra I, others sandwich geometry in between it and Algebra I. The latter scenario can be difficult, as it requires the student to remember all the fundamentals from Algebra I despite the "year off" while taking Geometry. Despite your situation, Algebra II in general is simply more difficult.
