Andy T. ...As an Asian student myself, I've always found the 'American' style of math teaching somewhat boring. Back in middle and high school, I would try to find methods for memorization and short cuts to formulas, making my calculations faster and more accurate (since less steps) than my peers. In a way, this is a bad thing because students are supposed to follow instructor's methods.
