In my day job as a research scientist, I apply mathematical concepts to solve complex biological problems. Dan B. ...I also use Matlab for its graphics, which is more oriented towards research than the business-presentation style of Excel. Like many others, I use Matlab for exploratory data analysis, or EDA, where program code must sometimes be written for specialized functions, but writing a self-contained program using C# or C++ would not be cost-effective. Matlab, of course, is a tool of enormous depth.
