Melissa T. ...I graduated two quarters early from UCSB because I excelled at studying techniques. I believe pneumonic devices, pictures, stories, and other more non traditional techniques are perfect for people struggling with a subject. Sometimes it's not the subject that's hard, it is the amount of material and possibly the teaching technique that makes it more difficult to comprehend.

I have had a real fascination with European history ever since I took AP European History in high school and earned a 5 on the AP exam. I went to Europe twice and took multiple guided tours of historical locations, prompting my desire to major in history at Duke.

Kara Z. ...I was a teaching assistant in an introductory engineering class. I have also done a course in cadet teaching in which I taught math to 5th graders. I believe there is more than one way to explain math concepts so that if a student doesn't grasp the way it is presented in class, I can find an alternate way of explaining it.
