Alvin W. I taught general chemistry full time at a community college in Illinois for 32 years, and part time for 3 years. For the last 5 years I have tutored mainly college chemistry (not organic chemistry) and math (not statistics). I have also done some tutoring chemistry and math for high school students. My degrees include a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a PhD in chemistry.

Success in Calculus is much greater for students who perform well in Precalculus. There are many difficult topics covered in Precalculus, and it can be really overwhelming.

Larry P. ...The reason many students struggle in math is that they have not experienced earned success. I love geometry because it involves reasoning more than just straight calculation. The key to learning geometry is for the student to solve problems by finding the information that is implied in the problem.

Jimmy S. ...Through my years of tutoring I have come to realize that everyone learns in different ways. That is why I like to teach concepts from multiple angles and a variety of examples. That way the student has various ways of grasping and understanding the key concepts that will help them with their learning going forward.
