My job was to tutor and help the students keep up with their classes while they were taken out of school (I worked at a mental health hospital and for Lutheran Social Services in the summer). I worked in all subject areas. We always promoted using positive reinforcement rather than fear-based tactics.

Marina O. ...When I work with students preparing for the GED, I go over questions with the students to determine their areas of need. Then I give Math, Science, English and Social Studies background and review, as needed. There is plenty of practice and discussion, with custom hints and strategies written during meetings and other handouts prepared to match with the student's needs.
