...Fortunately for my older son, I found math programs that were straightforward, taught underlying concepts, used manipulatives, and provided lots of practice. Though he is autistic, he was able to learn all four arithmetic operations, fractions and decimals, measurement and basic geometry. Now when I tutor in elementary math, I teach underlying concepts and strategies in concrete ways.
