...In addition, most instructors will offer you one or two strategies such as plugging or back-solving and ask you to apply them to every problem. I can teach you when to solve by hand, when to reach for your graphing calculator, and when to try plugging in numbers. Speed counts, so back-solving is rarely an effective use of your time.
