Denise W. ...Do you know the parts of speech? Have you been bamboozled by those who think any sentence with the past perfect tense is in "passive voice"? (Nope. In passive voice, the actor is unknown or unnamed. "John handed the tests back" is active voice, whereas "The tests were handed back" is passive voice, even if we append "by John.")
