And it introduces entirely new concepts that the student has not seen that he/she will be assumed to know when entering calculus later in his or her education. There is more abstraction than in Algebra 2 and a greater requirement for rigorous thinking.

One way I do this is by going over old tests, making sure a student is proficient in the problems that are correct and helping in the areas where confusion still exists.
