This means that until you become very comfortable with timing, leading/following and the music at the basic level, keep reinforcing the basic concepts before moving on and taking more advanced steps. If you don't know Russian and I start talking to you in Russian, you're not going to have any idea what I'm saying. The same goes for Math: If you don't learn the language of Mathematics, you'll never understand anything your teachers say.
