Hi, I'm a Physics graduate from Middlebury College class of 2010 where I also tutored undergraduates in several entry level physics classes. I think the most important step in tutoring is to understand the student's learning style. While teachers of large classes don't have the luxury of tailoring their teaching style to each individual student, that is a tutor's responsibility.

...While I was studying Political Science at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, I was a reading and writing tutor for fourth and fifth graders at an elementary school in Atlanta. I tutored for one semester, which is equivalent to about four months. Two years ago, I was a Writing Instructor through a non-profit organization called Writers Express in Cambridge, MA.

...I am really passionate about having my students understand the concepts instead of just getting by with the homework and passing tests. The concepts will translate into higher test scores overall because most subjects build on top of what you already know. I have spent a few months in a 4th grade class teaching mathematics.
